From Tobacco Factory to Supercomputing
In 2016, the Italian Government nominated the area of the former Tobacco Factory as the new headquarters for the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), ratifying in the following year the International Headquarters Agreement, paving the way to the construction of the new Data Centre Technopole orientated to the development of Supercomputing and Big Data, with applications focused on the challenges linked with climate change, sustainability, health, industrial production and social sciences
